A very big thank you, from Rob Foulds.

.
I would like to thank the people of the Rother Vale Ward, for their substantial support in my first attempt to provide them with an elected representative that is independent of the party dogma and blinkered control that so characterises Rotherham Council. My vote of 1,558 or 30.2% was remarkable against the backdrop of the General Election and I am optimistic for the future.

Unfortunately, success has eluded me this time and the great majority of the residents in that Ward must now tolerate being 'represented' by a councillor who was kicked out by his mates in the Hoober Ward, and parachuted into his new spot by his mates at Rotherham Council.

I confess to being deeply humbled by the support that I received from my family, friends and well wishers during the campaign and I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for all the work and efforts that they so generously expended on my behalf.

Thank you all.

Introducing Rob Foulds your Independent Candidate for Rother Vale Ward

I have been self-employed as a surveyor for 25 years and was recently appointed to the position of Clerk to Bramley Parish Council. I have been married for 37 years and have two grown-up children. My interests are fishing, campaigning for my community and my family.

I have lived and worked in the Rotherham area for most of my life. My parents were from a regular Rotherham working class background and we lived in a council house at Herringthorpe; my working life started in the steelworks at Steel Peech and Tozer and then as a draughtsman at Guest and Chrimes, after that I switched direction and became a surveyor at the Council for 16 years. Since my Council days, I have been self-employed.

My political leanings are toward 'social responsibility', a fair deal for all and this is what puts me at odds with Rotherham Council; they call themselves socialists - I don't. What sort of socialist expects the rate-payers to pay for their first class rail travel or goes swanning off on junkets to Los Angeles at public expense, whilst the rest of us are struggling to either find a job, or keep the one we've got?

Being in the business that I've been in for the last 35 years, I know exactly how Rotherham Council operates and this is why they don't like me, nor do they like my campaigning colleagues. We are independent people who can see right through their self-serving games and we know how to expose them.

As an independent campaigner, I have been involved with exposing the wastefulness of Rotherham Labour councillors. It was us who exposed the wastefulness of a big telly in the middle of Rotherham, we stopped the daft idea of a Supertram in Rotherham, we exposed the arrogance of a Labour councillor who referred to people of Bramley as the "Jackboot mob". And the list goes on and on.

But there's only so much you can do from the sidelines, so now I've decided to seek election, because "it's time for a change".

If I'm elected, my absolute priority will be to work for the benefit of the people of Thurcroft, Swallownest, Ulley, Brampton and Treeton I shall hold regular surgeries, attend the Parish Council meetings and make myself available to all the community groups in the area. I shall work for the people of the Rother Vale Ward.

It's time for a change, it's time we had councillors who are interested in their constituents.
